Konami Publishing Heroes’ Paradise, Sorta

Heroes' Paradise
I Sincerely didn’t see this one coming, but word out of Gamescom is that Konami plans to publish the redux of No More Heroes in 2011 – at least for Europe and the PlayStation 3.

The news comes care of Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH, and calling it a “sword-based action title” the emphasis of the announcement slides almost entirely to Move support, though the dualshock remains at the ready for players who prefer it.

What this means for North America is a mystery at the moment, along with what this means for 360 owners in Europe.

Mass Effect 2 Heading to PS3 in 2011

Today came the announcement from Bioware and EA that Mass Effect 2 will be heading to PS3s come 2011–while the original game will remain an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft was quick to assert that the only way to experience the “full” Mass Effect universe remains safely on their console, carefully ignoring the quickly forgotten Mass Effect Galaxy for the iPhone.

While this is tremendous news for Playstation 3 owners, current fans of the series can be forgiven for groaning collectively with the knowledge that bullshit exclusive content wars for ME2 and the inevitable sequel are almost certainly imminent.

Your Fall Nintendo Release List

Nintendo Fall 2010 Release List
Waking up to solid dates for the many games Nintendo listed for the last months of 2010 still manages to leave a few titles up in the air – Epic Mickey just refuses to let go of the holiday season as its date, and Shantae seems to feel the same way. The rest of the list manages to present the image of there being a little something for everyone, or a complete overdose that will break your wallet depending on your gaming agenda.

Still expect to see Metroid on the shelves August 31 and Samurai Warriors 3 on September 27, and then prepare to be bombarded as Wii Party releases on October 3, Kirby’s Epic Yarn hits on October 17, and November sees PokéPark Wii on the 1st, FlingSmash on the 7th, and Donkey Kong Country Returns on the 21st.

Sprinkled inbetween those dates you can still expect Professor Layton and the Unwound Future on September 12, Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs on October 4, Art Academy on October 25, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! on November 14.

Of course there’s also third party releases like Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light on October 5th, and the outing of the next title from Gaijin Games this fall, Bit.Trip Fate.

Considering this is only Nintendo’s schedule and doesn’t include every third party offering hitting the DS and Wii, are we all ready for another spin on the holiday landslide ride?

Ys Seven PSA & Giveaway

Ys Seven
Ys Seven hits store shelves tomorrow for your PSP, sporting a standard UMD release as well as an LCE that XSEED has stuffed with Falcom goodness. Being that I consider this year a pretty dreadful one for producing an RPG worth the investment of time and money, I’ve got plenty of expectations riding on this release.

But it occurs to me that maybe some of you don’t know what either a Ys or a Falcom is, and are left wondering if you should bother finding out. With that in mind, I’ve got my mitts on a couple of codes for a digital download of the title courtesy of Xseed Games – 2 to be exact.

So here’s the deal, drop me a line in the comment section of this post and tell me why you need this game to restore your faith in the RPG by Thursday August 19th at 11:59 pm est. I’ll draw two winners randomly from the comments on Friday and two of you can check the game out for yourself free of charge – and if you come back and tell me what you think, I’d probably dig that.

And finally, since I mentioned the LCE, you can catch two scans from the artbook that comes with that after the break.

Q&A – Aksys Talks 999

999
While far from perfect, the infinitely looping adventure of a prinny through the Disgaea universe this year planted the idea in my head that I might enjoy what the visual novel genre has to offer. Mind you, it’s still a mostly foreign concept to me, and prior to NISA’s stab at the genre I would have to fall back on PSP Metal Gear Solid comics as a poor substitution toward an idea of what a graphical text adventure is all about – which doesn’t really help at all.

A far better taste of the genre is coming later this year courtesy of Aksys Games though, with the localization of Chunsoft’s DS title 999 (9 Hours, 9 People, 9 Doors) – in which nine characters work to escape a cruise ship they are trapped aboard, not unlike a horror film, but of course with a tad more reading involved.

Lucky for me and my curiosity that Aksys had time to talk a bit about the title, which you can catch for yourself after the break.

Scott Pilgrim x Attract Mode x Giant Robot = AWESOMENESS

Giant Robot
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is out on PSN today and I’m anxiously twiddling my thumbs waiting for the PSN Store to refresh with today’s new releases. In the mean time, I found out about an event that will make people who don’t live in Los Angeles very jealous.

Attract Mode and Giant Robot are hosting a Game Night event with Bryan Lee O’Malley, who will be present for a signing and game session with fans at GR2 on August 21. At 5:00pm, he’ll be signing copies of Scott Pilgrim Volume 6 and after that wraps up, he’ll be playing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game multiplayer mode with fans.

Gamesugar had a great time at the first Game Night with Gaijin Games, so count on us attending this one and sharing the photos shortly after.
