Your Holiday Dose of Xbox LIVE Arcade

Xbox LIVE Arcade Holidays
As if scoring another exclusive chapter to the Dead Rising saga wasn’t enough, Microsoft has three other titles hitting LIVE between December 22 and January 5 at 800 points a piece, complete with some character crossover to loosely tie all three together for the holiday push – not exactly breaking news, but I figure it’s worth a reminder.

Kingdom building returns when A World of Keflings hits on December 22, Half Brick Studio’s Raskulls arrives on December 29, and ilomilo rounds out the list on January 5 – assuming you haven’t already gotten your mitts on that last one via super secret early promotion, which still seems to be generating codes, though they don’t seem to work anymore.

Catch a trailer for all three after the break.

Your Latest Dose of Hard Corps: Uprising

Hard Corps Uprising
I’m not really a screenshot kinda guy, and the latest batch for Uprising offers very few – however every shot that emerges this year testifies to Arc System Works’ mastery of visual pop, and that once again seems worth a nod.

I continue hoping we won’t have to wait too much longer to be seduced by the actual release, but in the meantime you can catch some freshly frozen glimpses after the break.

Love Notes – X-Men Arcade

X Men Arcade
Konami’s 1992 side-scrolling beat ’em up is one of the few arcade games I hold a great deal of nostalgic love for. Buy me a coffee sometime and I’ll regall you with stories about loitering near any building that housed the game, from the last of the arcades in my area to the seedy poolhalls that later served as poor but functional substitutes.

Konami was able to turn anything into a beat ’em up back in the day, from the Ninja Turtles to The Simpsons, but only The X-Men had six glorious arcade sticks jutting out of an over sized cabinet that cried out for my quarters – so it’s safe to say that I’m pretty stoked to see the game hit XBLA and PSN this week.

More Ghost Trick Demo Get

Ghost Trick Demo
Capcom has another taste of their phantom detective DS title Ghost Trick ready to sample, this time through the Nintendo DS Channel, giving players a chance to haunt Lynne’s apartment while looking to do some good.

Sissel’s quest to regain his memory and solve his own murder is another title getting the new year in gaming off to a quick start – the game is set to release on January 11, 2011.

Your Sonic Colors Coloring Contest Winners!

Sonic Colors Coloring Contest Winners
I want to thank everyone that took up our artistic challenge and sent in an impressive amount of spins on Sonic.

Bitey the Contest Hedgehog dropped in to give us a hand judging entries, and after many long hours it has been decided that Maria P is the winner of Sonic Colors for the Wii, and Peter Kimball is the winner of Sonic Colors for the DS. Maria’s attention to detail really seemed to win the judges over, while Peter’s complete subversion of the original image was hard to ignore, and a little frightening.

You can catch both winning submissions after the break, as well as all the entries on our Facebook page.

Dead Rising 2: Case West – Dated and Priced

Dead Rising 2 Case West
I was starting to wonder if Capcom would make their December timeline, but have no fear, your followup to Dead Rising 2 will bring Chuck and Frank together on the 360 December 27th, and run you a bit more than Case Zero at 800 Microsoft Points.

Carry on.

PSA – lilt line + Other Stuff

lilt line
Just a friendly reminder that Nintendo’s download offerings this week seem pleasantly worth a look.

Different Cloth’s lilt line makes the leap from iPhone to WiiWare, and if rhythm racing with a dubstep soundtrack sounds a bit peculiar, curious gamers should find a demo waiting for them, as well as a trailer here after the break.

Other exciting download developments include the arrival of SNES shooter Darius Twin on the virtual console – because you can never shoot enough robotic aquatic invaders from space – and Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ hits DSiWare today as well.
