The Invasion is Coming…, Again

In other following up on Famitsu news, it appears that Square-Enix’s E3 2010 strategy is to deliver at least 90% of what I’ve always wanted. I can’t absolutely prove that, I haven’t seen Einhander show up yet, but there is a trailer for Space Invaders Infinity Gene, which is hitting the show next week before its release for XBLA and PSN later this year.

Far from another pointless Extreme edition, Infinity Gene is a title I’ve been wanting on the consoles along with plenty of other people.

Trailer Park – Necromachina

Only yesterday I was staring at fuzzy Famitsu scans for Moon Diver, a new side scrolling ninja filled titled marked for XBLA and PSN, and today Square-Enix was good enough to open a page and add a trailer – what a difference a day makes indeed.

Staying in line with Square-Enix’s new goal of working with everyone on the planet, the title is being developed by Feelplus.

The best part is the game will be coming along with the rest of Square Enix’s E3 showings next week, under the North American title Necromachina.

Blade Kitten’s Edge

Blade Kitten also got a tiny update over at the PlayStation Blog today – yes it’s a busy place today. Krome Studios Producer Heidi Stapleton has written about tackling both Krome’s first side-scrolling game as well as their first downloadable title.

As far as level design goes, she mentions obligatory sewer tunnels, grassy plains, an urban marketplace and temple – but hey she mentions Strider as an influence so fingers crossed.

What I’m most interested in with the title is the floating blades, which are independent of the player so that, as she says –

“One of the ways Blade Kitten differs from most other side-scrollers is that the player can engage in combat whilst climbing on walls and hanging from ceilings.”

Blade Kitten will have several blades players can purchase within the game, with different attributes for dealing with various enemies.

Word of a release date is said to be coming soon. Once again, fingers crossed – I need more side-scrolling fix this year. Well, every year.

Trailer Park – Dead Nation

Zombies – The only humanoids you can slaughter in videogames that cause less weight on your conscience than Nazis.

Continuing the zombie craze that has infected both cinema and games in recent years, Dead Nation is an upcoming PSN exclusive that looks a lot like the reportedly underwhelming Zombie Apocalypse from Konami. However, with a cheesy trailer, tons of zombie gibs, and the promise of co-op, the game already has the trappings that keep dragging us back for more. Dead Nation will also keep track of national statistics if you’re into that sort of thing.

Your PS3 Can Do This, Tomorrow

Sony’s made it official over at the PlayStation Blog – the HD stereoscopic 3D PS3 revolution begins for North America tomorrow. They also want you to know that the console has always been equipped and ready for this event, which makes me feel that there may be an overdose of who did 3D first chest banging in our future.

Anyone lucky enough to own a PS3 and a 3D television (where do you get your money and can I borrow some?) can check out the following games and demos tomorrow – WipEout HD (full game) – Super Stardust HD (full game) – MotorStorm Pacific Rift (demo) – PAIN (Downtown area and tutorial along with three modes, including two new modes created specifically with stereoscopic 3D in mind, Alien Toss and Ice Breaker).

I’ve heard that Wipeout HD doesn’t include the Fury Pack DLC in 3D. I’ve also heard that if you already own the full games in this list that you can upgrade them for free, which is good, because you’re probably going to be paying off your home electronics bill for quite awhile.

Square’s Bringing Aya to E3

Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday
It’s official, Square-Enix is bringing the game I’ve been holding my breath over for an eternity to E3 2010. Finally we’ll know how the series plans to mutate and evolve on the PSP with The Third Birthday.

Did we need a post devoted entirely to this snippet of info?

The answer is an emphatic yes.

Trailer Park – Dragon Quest IX

In addition to adding Midnight Blue to the North American DSi XL color wheel, Nintendo may also be making gaming recommendations for the system via a new trailer for Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies – set to release on July 11, 2010.

Admittedly I haven’t been paying very much attention to the title – it’s clear that the multiplayer questing business merits more immediate investigation on my part.
