PSA – Fluidity Hits WiiWare

Fluidity
Curve Studio’s form shifting title releases today for 1,200 points, and anyone curious about the game have no excuse to be left behind since Nintendo has also offered up a demo for the release.

Somewhere between playing as a pool of water that can transform into steam and ice, and tilting the WiiMote to affect events on screen, this feels like a splash of what Sony often hoards with titles like Loco Roco and PixelJunk Shooter – so fingers crossed as usual.

Catch some short video of the game in action after the break.

Mickey’s Epic Spending Options

Epic Mickey
Disney’s Epic Mickey is nearly upon us, set for release on November 30th, which is like what, ten more sleeps?

To fuel potential fanaticism, PDP offers two products that you’ve likely seen already, the paintbrush Nunchuk and a WiiMote charger that doubles as a display piece. The Nunchuck can already be had from Amazon or PDP’s website for $19.99 USD, but the charger, which PDP lists for $49.99 USD is a Toys ‘R’ Us Exclusive, a phrase I haven’t heard in quite awhile, and word is that it will later become available through PDP’s site as well.

Then of course there’s still the collector’s edition of the game, which all together should help leave an epic dent in your wallet depending on just how much you love the mouse.

I remember when you could see five Mickey cartoons for a dime and get change back! Okay not really, but it sounds like something that would be true, doesn’t it?

Review – Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

Review Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles
For three consecutive nights, my girl and I have loaded our WiiMotes as if they were pistols, complete with nerdy sound effects, and found more multiplayer fun with The Darkside Chronicles than any other game we’ve played together this year. With a guilty weakness for light gun games, but a collection of titles that left plenty to be desired, we initially went into the game with a healthy amount of hesitation.

As stifled as the genre is, given that no amount of fancy words changes the fact that players are simply pointing at the screen and pulling a trigger, this release offers a reminder that there’s a genre to develop a game within, as with any other. And while the mechanics are straight-forward, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of creating a memorable experience, so long as developers accept that challenge rather than trying to shoehorn existing franchises into the setup.

Keep in mind I’ve largely ignored Dead Space Extraction for this very reason, simply because it’s burdened with the perception of providing a quick and easy means of moving the franchise onto the Wii.

When it came to The Darkside Chronicles, I did only expect to play long enough to get my Resident Evil fix. And yet for three nights in a row, we’ve played until our eyes were swollen red and our trigger fingers went from itchy to aching.
