Persona 2: Innocent Sin – Then and Now

Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Leaving no Japanese stone unturned, Famitsu turns up intro video for the recently revealed PSP edition of Persona 2: Innocent Sin. As much as knee-jerk fanism makes me excited at the probability of finally seeing a packaged version of Innocent Sin in North America, I’m having a hard time imagining how Atlus might go about bringing it here – mostly because one imagines that other Persona 2 will turn up as well, and confuse the hell out of us poor consumers.

I’m not even trying to be sarcastic there either, writing about two Persona 2’s could get really confusing. Makes me wonder if Atlus will make us wait here for some sort of double-pack super-duper Persona 2 edition that proves too tempting to simply write off as “another one of those damn Atlus PSP ports.”

But who knows.

In the meantime, I thought it might be fun to check out this new video alongside that of the original PSOne release.

Demon’s Souls Goes Greatest Hits

Demon's Souls
Atlus sent the word, Demon’s Souls has made the red jacket club on the PS3 and will be hitting shelves for $29.99. Atlus didn’t mention if this means they’ll be keeping the servers on longer, currently their commitment is to keep the lights on until March 2011 – so let’s all be sure to bug them about that.

Can you believe Sony didn’t publish this game?

Catherine – The View From TGS

Catherine
What can I say about a TGS trailer offering another glimpse at Catherine? Clearly Atlus Japan has finally lost its collective mind and been devoured by their long and poorly hidden deviancy, which was overdue, and I’m loving every second of it.

Catch a glimpse for yourself after the break.

Trailer Park – Catherine

Catherine
After a title reveal, scans, and screenshots, a trailer has descended for Atlus’ not-another-Persona game Catherine – though it really comes across as a mature evolution on where Persona 2 was at back in the day.

On the upside, you don’t need to speak Japanese to see that this is the most interesting project Atlus Japan has conjured in quite a long while – whether that helps explain the port-mania is open to debate.

Catch the trailer after the break, poor little lamb.

Demon’s Souls Gets Life Extension

Demon's Souls
One of the more interesting emails I received today was a press release announcing Atlus’ continuing support for Demon’s Souls with news that they would extend North American online support through to at least March 2011. A big part of the reason I find this interesting is because I had no idea there was any concern about the game losing that support anytime soon – such thoughts simply never occurred to me.

So it’s good news for veterans and newcomers alike that Atlus will be keeping the lights on, with the world tendency system even shifting to pure white for a couple of weeks in celebration. That’s great news and all, at least until March.

However, considering that the game won’t even be a year old in North America until October 6, I’m not sure I like the state of affairs when we hand out cookies for things we used to take for granted. I’m not trying to be a downer here, I know everything is disposable and the next big game is the priority, the new economy and all that jazz – I’m just saying it feels odd.

Anyway, you tell me, how long should a game based around creating online communities on a major console be supported?

The View From Gekkoukan High

Persona 3 Portable
I feel terminally exhausted lately.

In fact, the days seem to go by in a blur now, as if one morning I’m walking to school only catching half a conversation with friends and then suddenly waking to a mid-afternoon lecture on literature – and then before I really know what the context is, school is over for the day and I’m back at the dorm questioning whether I should try to study or crawl back into bed.

I’ve missed tennis practice three times in a row now. I joined the club as soon as the opportunity presented itself, and even though they meet three times a week I constantly seem to get derailed. I always mean to go, but someone or something always seems to need me those days. Just last week I got asked to join Student Council, and like usual I couldn’t bring myself to admit that I was already too busy.

For some reason I can never say no.

Forests Of Eternity – The Art of Etrian Odyssey

Forests of Eternity
Following the tradition of Atlus spoiling their fans comes Forests of Eternity – your 60 page full-color artwork pre-order bonus for the upcoming DS RPG Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City. Atlus mentions that the book offers up character designs and concept art from the entire Etrian Odyssey series.

While I haven’t been keeping up with Etrian Odyssey much over the last month, I’m glad to see another artbook on the way, especially from the publisher responsible for my much cherished Knights in the Nightmare Tome of Lost Souls.

Etrian Odyssey III is set for release on September 21, 2010 btw.

Check out the full image here, or catch a virtual sample of the book over here.
