Trailer Park – Catherine

Catherine
After a title reveal, scans, and screenshots, a trailer has descended for Atlus’ not-another-Persona game Catherine – though it really comes across as a mature evolution on where Persona 2 was at back in the day.

On the upside, you don’t need to speak Japanese to see that this is the most interesting project Atlus Japan has conjured in quite a long while – whether that helps explain the port-mania is open to debate.

Catch the trailer after the break, poor little lamb.

  1. Liked the trailer and since it’s a “not” a Persona this one will not be weird at all. Might even be displayed in soft pastel colors only!

  2. This is essentially Atlus’ first in-house foray into HD development, as they felt that it would be more appropriate to storm the HD consoles with something different. They’ve branded it as an action/adventure style game, and I can see it being something like Silent Hill with the intention of being sexually unsettling, aka literal mind****.

Vincent, a listless salaryman, finds himself utterly seduced by the mysterious Catherine, whom charms her way into his bed. Of course, this is a bad thing, as Vincent already has a girlfriend. Vincent begins to have horrible nightmares about climbing a horrific, endless staircase filled with not-so-ordinary sheep. Somewhere in the context, Vincent learns that if he does not ascend to the top of the stairs and escape in his dreams, he will die. In fact, Vincent finds himself becoming a sheep within these dreams as well, hinting towards what all the other sheep may actually be. Who is this Catherine? Or more importantly, what is she?

  3. I know it isn’t very profitable but I wish more devs would experiment with that literal mind****.

  4. This game looks like it is my type of game! Loved it from the beginning of the bleeding Atlus logo. I really hope this sells enough to warrant more unique games!
