Review – Lost Planet 2

Whether you’re a fan from Lost Planet: Extreme Condition or a new player drawn in by videos of clashing mechs and monsters, response to Lost Planet 2 probably has left you hesitant to render any sort of purchasing decision. I am here to offer you some relief: I can tell you that the calculation can be refined to one variable. That is, precisely how much suffering are you prepared to endure for tremendous action?

Must Love Videogames

Must Love Videogames
You can catch Gametrailers’ montage footage for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World just about anywhere on the Net today – including Gametrailers of all places, how crazy is that?

On the eve of spending time with dozens of titles looking to seduce gamers with new standards of hyper-reality, here comes a release that doesn’t simply feed on my childhood, but rather a videogame that seems to enjoy being a videogame – pixel impossibilities that pop with sparks of life more earnest and bright than anything taxing the processing power of modern consoles.

If that sounds like a bunch of bullshit, well, wanting hands on games we don’t yet have makes gamers say crazy things – if you don’t believe me just check out Tiny Cartridge’s Eric Caoili finally reaching the breaking point over Game Center CX 2.

What is Malicious?

Malicious
A fair enough question to ask, but all we know so far is that it’s a downloadable PS3 title from Alvion. A Japanese teaser site offers some screenshots, which you can catch after the break.

This news is joined by today’s other Japanese teaser site, from Sony, which the finest minds the Net has to offer wager is another installment of Patapon.

I’m gonna suggest that all this teasing is what’s most malicious at the moment.

IndieCade@E3 2010

IndieCade
For anyone needing a breath of fresh air on the show floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center next week, I just got our friendly reminder that IndieCade (The International Festival of Independent Games) will be there (West Hall 4344) to highlight games from their 2010 call for submissions.

Past IndieCade awardees include titles such as the Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom and Machinarium, so it’s the kind of thing we here like keeping an eye on.

What should we expect this year? Catch the press details after the break to find out.

Your Overdue Dreamcast Revival Confirmed

Dreamcast
Sega has just made the long running rumors and speculation official, the many gems of the Dreamcast library, that little wonder box that made all real gamers believe, are getting revived and coming to both XBLA and PSN this year. It may not surprise you that Sega is starting with Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi this Fall, both of which will be on the floor at E3 next week.

Sega says that the releases preserve the Dreamcast originals, while featuring enhanced visuals and surround sound as well as leader boards and Trophy / Achievement integration.

All of this pleases me even if the first two choices feel anti-climatic.

Dear Sega, make with the Jet Grind Radio and Space Channel 5 immediately – and maybe my list of a dozen Japanese imports while you’re at it.

The Invasion is Coming…, Again

Space Invaders
In other following up on Famitsu news, it appears that Square-Enix’s E3 2010 strategy is to deliver at least 90% of what I’ve always wanted. I can’t absolutely prove that, I haven’t seen Einhander show up yet, but there is a trailer for Space Invaders Infinity Gene, which is hitting the show next week before its release for XBLA and PSN later this year.

Far from another pointless Extreme edition, Infinity Gene is a title I’ve been wanting on the consoles along with plenty of other people.

As always, catch the trailer after the break and decide if you want to be excessively happy about the news too.
