Nintendo’s E3 2010 Press Conference In Pictures

Nintendo Press Conference
Of all the photographs Aileen snagged at the Press Conference this morning, this one is by far my favorite.

The general consensus tonight seems to be that this will be a day long remembered by the gaming faithful, so we’ve added a thorough pictorial play-by-play to our Facebook Page for your viewing pleasure.

Under the Radar – Don’t Forget Pikachu

PokePark Wii
The mini-game roundup of PokePark Wii was another title waiting for a date, which now has one, like so many others set as this Holiday season. Feels like an awful lot of games are coming for the Holidays, so we’ll see how that plays out.

Other potentially under the radar Holiday listings on the Wii include FlingSmash, and TRON: Evolution-Battle Grids, which I’m certain I haven’t heard of before today because I’d have remembered the word TRON.

Flip’s Twisted World, a title I saw at E3 2009 has a date of September 21, 2010, along with another Majesco title that seems to move around a lot, Dawn of Heroes on the DS, which is now marked for August 17, 2010. Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal joins the party on October 26, 2010 at the moment, and Nintendo’s list dates Ivy the Kiwi? for August 24, 2010.

Kirby Turns Into Things, Awesome Things

Kirby's Epic Yarn
No matter what else happens today, Kirby’s Epic Yarn has really surprised and charmed me – entirely because I wasn’t expecting the game, but more over that I certainly wasn’t expecting to care quite so much if the little guy did come back for another adventure. As I said earlier, the amount of side-scrolling being seen in several games today makes me feel ten years old again, but it’s the entire virtual fabric world Kirby brings with him that drives that nostalgia home.

The minute game footage began to play, I was immediately remembering the first time I played Yoshi’s Island, and that’s something I never imagined I’d say, type, or emote in any way.

Of course Kirby can also turn into things, and you can catch some art for said transformations after the break – including the always important massive robotic tank.

Checking In On Sony – Or Checking Sony In…

Sony Press Conference
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen so little information stretched over such a long period of time, almost like how writers once got paid by the word – except that this is E3 time which I’m sure makes the list of most expensive time wherever time is priced.

Pulling for a rebranding of the PSP didn’t make me think some new ads was all they would do, and do such a poor job of it – as if the entire problem is you either didn’t know it existed before today, or need to know what a kid thinks of it before making a purchasing decision. At least the PSP has a great lineup of third party titles in the pipe, that much is true.

I suppose part of me really resents being shown how to use a Move controller as if this technology was just invented by Sony yesterday and we all need to be eased into the use of it. Why not just say “like Wii but better?” – the videos are almost duplicating the original Wii spots anyway. Sony really reversed the whole “show don’t tell” idea I was enjoying earlier today.

Even seeing Gabe Newell walk out on stage didn’t make me think he was suddenly a convert of the technology underneath the hood of the PS3 – rather I am wondering what Faustian deal has gone on behind the curtains. Keep in mind that I’ll take Twisted Metal away and be slightly merrier, but Sony is so far removed from the company that convinced me to buy a PS3 before a Wii (It’s a Fact) that I can’t even recognize the company today.

There’s plenty more to say, especially about Playstation Plus, but a few of us here earnestly need a little bit more time to feel like we even get what just happened.

Under the Radar – More Mario vs. Donkey Kong

Mario vs. Donkey Kong
It may not have earned a place on the screen during the Press Conference, but a new entry in the series has made Nintendo’s release list. Create level maps and share them with friends via Nintendo Wi-Fi – it’s kinda trendy this year I hear.

Honestly, I’m not just looking for a reason to post some great art for the title, but if you’re into that sorta thing you can catch it after the break.

Nintendo’s E3 2010 – You Tell Us

Nintendo Press Conference Follow Up
I suppose I should start listing off everything that Nintendo just showed to the world, but there’s plenty of sites jamming out the assets Nintendo just made available – believe me there’s giga amounts of assets flying across the net right now.

What I’d rather know is what grabbed your attention during the Press Conference. Personally I was thrilled to see so much emphasis on side-scrolling games like Kirby, Donkey Kong, and even the Steamboat Mickey bit of play within Disney’s Epic Mickey. I was also glad to see Metroid: Other M receive a more atmospheric trailer, and hear Reggie hit on the long running themes of the series, even if he had to mention emotional drama directly after.

Even Mario Sports Mix got my attention, and that’s not even close to scraping the list of everything announced live and via the press releases hitting us.

Obviously the 3DS was a show stealer, but what else is making you salivate?

Bonus points if you don’t use “Donkey Kong made me go bananas!” :/

Your Upcoming 3DS Titles

3DS List
When Nintendo said they had too many developers interested and working on potential 3DS titles, they weren’t kidding. While I try to shovel and sort all the information flying at my head, check out Nintendo’s partial list of upcoming first and third party games tentatively slated for Nintendo’s newest handheld.

Take it with a grain of salt because it’s likely to be revisioned a dozen times, but I’ve highlighted a few titles that make me smile.
