PSA – Your Shiny Pokémon Await

Shiny Pokemon
A friendly reminder came our way that Pokémon fans can get a jump on Nintendo’s upcoming Black & White versions via a GameStop offer in the US and Canada starting today, as well as get their hands on some shiny Pokémon.

If you’re in possession of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver versions, there’s a trio of Shiny Pokémon up for grabs by visiting your nearest GameStop with the game and your DS – namely Raikou, Entei, and Suicune – which apparently can later be transferred to Pokémon Black and/or White in order to unlock yet another Pokémon in either of those two games that isn’t available through regular gameplay – Pokémon Zoroark.

The offer starts today and runs through to February 6, 2011 – breaking down as follows;

Shiny Raikou – January 3rd – January 9th, 2011
Shiny Entei – January 17th – January 23rd, 2011
Shiny Suicune – January 31st – February 6th, 2011

Your Pokémon Enigma (Stone)

Pokemon
The quest to keep my well worn Pokéwalker in my pocket continues, with news that HeartGold and SoulSilver Pokéfantatics can get their mitts on the Enigma Stone via wifi, and thus a chance to catch elusive Legendary Pokémon, Latias (SoulSilver) or Latios (HeartGold).

According to the fine print, the catch is that only players who have beaten the Elite Four, claimed the National Pokédex, and have two or fewer Wonder Cards can solve the riddle of the Enigma Stone in order to capture Latios or Latias.

So many Pokérules…

I haven’t seen an official news blurb on the Pokémon site yet, but word from the press release I’m looking at is that this opportunity starts on Saturday July 31st and continues through to Friday August 27th.

Update – The HeartGold & SoulSilver site now has the step by step details.

My New Addiction – The PokéWalker

The PokeWalker
My hesitance to call Nintendo’s PokéWalker the greatest invention since sliced bread has less to do with a desire to spare you the hyperbole, and more about the fact that as much as I enjoy a well made sandwich, the PokéWalker is better. I’ve been carrying it with me constantly this week, encouraging people to ask me what I mean when I say that there’s a Mareep in my pocket, and gushing on about the device when someone is brave enough to do so.

For those in the gaming-know, the pack-in device with the recent release of Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver helps both titles overcome the hurdle of being considered simply DS rehashes. For those not familiar with the originals or the add-ons of the past, the PokéWalker functions on just enough magic to feed the curiosity of even the most devotedly disinterested.
