Trailer Park – Child of Eden

Child of Eden
Above all else, I’ve been waiting all day for a chance to see even a glimpse of Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s spiritual successor to Rez. My wish fulfillment can be found after the break with the E3 trailer for Child of Eden.

Keep in mind that I won’t even pretend to understand what is going on within the game just yet, I only know it’s hitting PS3 and the 360, with some putting the words Move and Kinect into play – and that getting my hands on any part of it to feel the game out is my new priority.

Check Your Enthusiam – When Star Wars Meets Kinect

Kinect Star Wars
I guess anytime you want to create excitement for a piece of gaming hardware, you could still drag the Star Wars license into it. Okay maybe I don’t entirely believe that, but it did help get me to buy a Gamecube back in the day.

As for the bit of Star Wars Microsoft had to show at their Press Conference today, ideally to demonstrate a harder core of game for Kinect…

Keep in mind people always tell me that this or that might be early in development, and certainly that’s true. But it’s also true that you bring the best you have to an event such as this, and this video has bizarrely taken me back to the days of Rebel Assault, and offers up a short battle that looks as if storm troopers are playing laser ping pong.

Take it with a grain of salt I suppose, either way I think it’s kinda hilarious to watch, after the break.

Can Microsoft Kinect With Gamers?

Connect with Kinect
As we all know, Microsoft held a large scale press extravaganza last night to showcase their new “Kinect” peripheral. What we’ve known as Project Natal hasn’t changed much with this new name, but there are some key factors in all of this that still need to be announced before I can see myself proudly displaying it under my TV.

I’ve been up all night attempting to write this article, until one specific line hit me while talking with Jamie about it: The price of novelty. The price of novelty is a simple rule about how much you are willing to spend on a device, for the length of time you think having it will be interesting. My hesitation in writing anything quite yet is the lack of a price point. Sure there have been rumors floating around, but nothing set in stone, and no prices that yet sound very appealing to me. What I’m left with is wondering how long will I, as a gamer, be able to enjoy the novelty of the Kinect?

Questionable Intelligence – Meet Kinect

Kinect
What a day yesterday, with Project Natal getting rebranded as Kinect – see it’s like it connects you even more to your 360, but also hits on Kinetics! Get it?!

Okay, so maybe I haven’t been blown away by the games so far, which may or may not work very well, but as one Editor reminded me this morning there’s still the Minority Report styled menu controls.

As much fun as I might have poking fun at this device before Microsoft’s Press Conference reiterates why everyone should run out and buy it this fall, I feel obligated to warn you about some very disturbing video I saw this morning – detailing what became of one unfortunate family with the device in question.

Video evidence after the break.
